- I've never noticed that about soda. Funny you should mention knowing you're going to get a migraine before the pain occurs. I do not have migraine with aura, but I have a couple of warning signs myself.

- I have had the same experience as you with the Relpax. More often than not, the first dose does not aleviate the entire migraine and then I can feel the exact moment the minimal effects from the first dose begin to wear off which always seems to be somewhere around the 8 to 12 hour mark for me.

- I was wondering what amount of Topamax you were taking, what the side effects were that you had from it, and whether it actually helped prevent your migraines before you quit using it.

I too took Topomax for about 18 mos. and it worked a bit for me, meaning I did have a few less migranes per month You asked abut side effects--there is one good one, you tend to lose weight! However, there is a really awful side effect that apparently doesn't happen OFTEN, but sadly it happened to me--kidney stones which hurt way worse than any migrane ever! When I was rushed to the ER they asked what drugs I was on, told them Topomax and the Doctor didn't know about this. After my hospital visit and having to be shot up with morphine for the kidney stone pain, I went home, and went back on the Topomax, since I had no idea this was an issue. Weeks later I went back to my neuologist who i just happened to mention it to and he said that it is a side effect of Topomax and was shocked the hospital didn't know about it. So, I was taken off it immediately. I think he said it effects only about 5-10% of patients! So there you go!!!!!
